Though Newcastle United have been linked with moves for two Arsenal players, the Daily Star suggest NEITHER could come off this summer.
Indeed, both Lucas Perez and Jack Wilshere have been touted as Toon targets of late, though the report claims both moves are unlikely.
The Magpies are said to have cooled their interest in striker Perez – with the Daily Mirror claiming yesterday that he’s valued at around £17m – as they close in on the signing of Joselu.
Wilshere, meanwhile, is believed to be too expensive for the St. James’ Park club. Again, the Mirror yesterday suggested that the England international is valued at a whopping £20m.
Sadly, it’s all too predictable for Newcastle. Though the summer started out with such optimism, the transfer market has proved difficult to navigate on Tyneside, who’ve been blown out of the water thus far.
While Wilshere would be a risk, considering his injury problems, Perez could have been an astute addition, even with the expected arrival of his compatriot.
