According to the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace manager Frank De Boer could consider selling Andros Townsend this summer.

The England international has been strongly touted as a Newcastle United target over the past year or so, having failed to recapture the sort of form he showed on Tyneside for the Eagles. Indeed, there is thought to have been interest in the former Tottenham Hotspur winger this summer, though Jacob Murphy has since arrived to bolster wide attacking areas.

De Boer is understood to want more players to fit his philosophy before now and the end of the summer, with Townsend reportedly amongst the players he’d be ready to consider selling.

A popular figure at St. James’ Park during his short stint with the Toon Army, he proved a pivotal figure under Rafa Benitez as they battled against relegation. Though he departed not long after the Magpies’ descent into the Championship, the 26-year-old would surely be a welcome addition.

Newcastle have struggled to get deals over the line this summer, so it’d be interesting to see if Mike Ashley would be willing to pay what would presumably a relatively similar fee to the one they sold him for little over a year ago.
