While the struggles certainly are real for Newcastle United right now, one man on the books of the club looks to be going from strength to strength.

Indeed, Freddie Woodman helped the England U20s to a historic World Cup win earlier this summer, expertly saving a penalty in the final against Venezuela.

Since, the young ‘keeper has been linked with moves away from St. James’ Park, though is currently training with the first-team and battling with both Rob Elliot and Karl Darlow for a starting berth under Rafa Benitez.

Though he’s a long way from being considered a regular at club level, Woodman’s international career is fast moving it seems, with the 20-year-old being called into the England U21 squad.

With Jordan Pickford having moved up to the senior squad, the former Crawley Town loanee seems to have taken his place as he continues to move up the age groups.

Woodman took to Twitter to announce his pride at his promotion and Newcastle fans will be hoping he develops on Tyneside, rather than anywhere else.
