It’s been a strange summer to be a Newcastle United fan.
Indeed, optimism was abound following the Magpies’ Championship-winning campaign and the Toon Army prepare for Rafa Benitez to take his rebuild of the club into its next phase.
However, the summer window has proved frustrating at St. James’ Park and Benitez publically admitted he was unhappy, amid suggestions he was heading for showdown talks with top brass.
Simply put, the Spaniard hasn’t been able to add too much way in the way of quality to his ranks since winning promotion and it seems as if targets have been missed out on.
So, recent reports emanating out of Nigeria suggesting the club were close to landing a relatively prolific marksman certainly prove interesting. SCORE Nigeria claim Olarenwaju Kayode of Austria Wien could join the club within a matter of days.
