Newcastle United’s busy end to an otherwise frustrating transfer window looks like seeing another outcast depart St. James’ Park.
Indeed, Grant Hanley is reportedly close to joining Norwich City after the two clubs agreed a fee, bringing an end to a pretty disappointing stint on Tyneside for the Scot.
Signed from Blackburn Rovers last summer, the 25-year-old largely struggled with the step up, struggling to wholly convince in black and white.
His performance against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup last week invoked the ire of Newcastle supporters and the arrival of Florian Lejeune pushed him further down the pecking order.
With Manu Riverie and Siem De Jong also having departed of late, Rafa Benitez may actually have some room to bring some more players as he attempts to clear the wage bill.
