One of the sewing motifs amid life at Newcastle United over the last few months has been the doubts about Rafa Benitez’s long-term future with the club.
Indeed, such reports first emerged around the January transfer window after the Magpies failed to make a signing over the course of the New Year window, while his frustration about the transfer dealings this summer has been aired publically.
However, a line from the Chronicle appears to suggest that the 57-year-old is determined to make things work this season. Within their insightful report on the ‘Cold War’ currently going on behind the scenes at the club, they reveal that there remains a ‘dogged determination’ on Benitez’s part.
While he is said to be disappointed about how dealings have worked out since winning the Championship back in May, the former Liverpool and Real Madrid is still thought to have the desire on Tyneside.
Whether or not the situation changes for the Toon Army remains to be seen, though at least there’s some fairly promising news in regards to Rafa’s immediate future.
