Newcastle United flop Grant Hanley could leave the club before the end of the transfer window.

The Scotland international has largely been a peripheral figure at the club since joining from Blackburn Rovers last summer, not even slightly impressing during the fleeting appearances he has made in that time.

Indeed, his performance during last night’s loss to Nottingham Forest in the League Cup has been heavily criticised by supporters and the arrival of Florian Lejeune has only pushed the 25-year-old further down the pecking order.

According to West London Sport, Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic is keen on bringing a new central defender to Craven Cottage before the end of September, with the Scot said to be on his list.

While Hanley isn’t thought to be the Cottagers’ first choice – barely surprising – he could reportedly be an option in West London.

Jokanovic is believed to ‘like’ him and Hanley certainly does boast a huge amount of Championship experience, though his time on Tyneside looks to have been too much of a step up.

Thoughts?
