Big spending Everton are set to hi-jack Newcastle’s bid to sign Andreas Samaris.
According to a report in A Bola the Benfica defender is on Ronald Koeman’s shopping list with a price of £14million (€16million).
Newcastle have been in discussions to sign Samaris since the end of last season but will have to move quickly if they want to avoid the player moving to Goodison Park.
Everton have been quick off the mark with a number of new signings including Burnley defender Michael Keane.
Pairing Keane up with Samaris would give the Goodison side an all new central defensive partnership as Koeman pushes for a top four place.
While transfer business appears to be slow and laboured at Newcastle money seems to be no object at Everton with Wayne Rooney expected to join up later this week with more big signings expected as Koeman’s dreams are backed by cash from the board.
