Loic Remy has been linked with a return to Newcastle United.

According to a report in the Croydon Advertiser Chelsea are prepared to let the striker leave with Everton and Southampton also keen.

Remy scored an impressive 14 goals in 24 matches on loan to Newcastle in the 2013/14 season but has failed to rekindle that form elsewhere and spent a fruitless season on loan at Crystal Palace last term.

Despite making just five appearances, four as a substitute for Palace last term the striker seems to be in demand as a back up rather than starter.

Newcastle are in the market for a front line striker as their interest in Tammy Abrahams demonstrated with Benitez looking at a variety of options.

Remy of the 13/14 vintage would be a God send to Rafa Benitez but even on loan it looks a risky venture which probably explains Chelsea’s eagerness to move the 30-year-old on.
