Newcastle are ready to slap in a £10m bid for Allan.
According to a report in The Sun Rafa Benitez is keen to bring the Brazilian midfielder to St James’ Park.
Allan joined Napoli two years ago from Udinese with the Newcastle boss convinced that the 26-year-old has the qualities to thrive in the Premier League.
Benitez intended to recruit mainly from England but has spread his net further after hitting out at the crazy state of the domestic market.
In January Newcastle were quoted a price of £20m to sign Tom Cairney from Fulham but are ready to push for a former Brazilian u-20 internationalist with five years experience of playing in Serie A.
Midfield hasn’t been a signing priority for Benitez but news of the availability of Allan at £10m has brought Newcastle to the negotiating table.
Benitez is concentrating his efforts on bringing in a goalkeeper and striker as well as trying to move on half a dozen players not in his plans for the Premier League.
