Newcastle offered French striker Diakhaby

|

Newcastle have been offered Adama Diakhaby in a €10m deal from Rennes.

According to a report that Sky Sports have picked up from L’Eqipe the striker is being offloaded as Rennes bring in Ismaila Sarr- who has also been linked to Newcastle- from Metz.

Diakhaby only managed four goals last season but is still rated highly in the French game with Monaco and Lille also interested.

Rennes are set to pay €17m to sign Sarr and are hoping to offset some of the costs by selling Diakhaby.

Newcastle are in the market for a new striker but it’s unlikely that they’ll be prepared to splash out on a relatively untested French talent when they are looking to find the goals to steer well clear of relegation.

With Daryl Murphy sold to Nottingham Forest for £2m bringing in a new striker to compete with Dwight Gayle for the striking role is a priority along with adding a goalkeeper to compete with Rob Elliot.
