Blackpool have completed the signing on loan of Sean Longstaff.

The midfielder will go straight in to Gary Bowyer’s first team plans as he attempts to make up for last season’s League One play-off defeat.

Longstaff was on loan at Kilmarnock for the second half of last season with his performances in the SPFL impressing the Blackpool boss.

ā€œSean is another exciting addition to the squad and Iā€™m delighted that Newcastle United have allowed him to further his development with us,ā€ he told the Blackpool website.

Going to League Two will certainly help the 19-year-old toughen up as he attempts to climb the career ladder into the Newcastle first team.

A year ago he was breaking in to Peter Beardsley’s u-23 squad but nothing compares with the real world of EFL football on a twice weekly basis.

The loan agreement is only until January but depending on how he progresses it could be extended through until the end of the season.

Longstaff has already turned out for Blackpool, appearing in the midweek friendly against Darlington as a trialist.
