Newcastle are still in the hunt for Michy Batshuayi.

According to a report on ESPN the Chelsea striker could be on his way to St James’ Park on a season long loan to solve a problem position for Rafa Benitez.

Any prospect that Batshuayi would step up to replace Diego Costa at Stamford Bridge were killed stone dead with the arrival of Alvaro Morata.

So far in this transfer window Newcastle have missed out on getting Tammy Abraham and Ruben Loftus-Cheek in on loan from Chelsea but Benitez has still to sign a new striker.

Batshuayi was a £33m signing from Marseilles last summer but barely got a look in as Costa went on a scoring spree.

The Belgian internationalist has been linked with a number of clubs but the chance to remain in the Premier League and put himself in the shop window for the richest league in the world is bound to be tempting.
