Newcastle fans will be pleased to welcome Andreas Samaris- because he’s not Georgios Samaras.
Despite a purple patch at Celtic the long haired striker is best remembered for a nightmare spell at Manchester City (before they were rich) and a short unsuccessful stint with West Brom.
Samaris is believed to be well on his way to a £17.5m move from Benfica to Newcastle to add experience to Rafa Benitez’s midfield.
The Newcastle boss has been working on a number of deals to prepare for the Premier League but so far the only deal to have gone through was converting the loan deal of Christian Atsu into a permanent transfer.
Prediction – Newcastle sign Samaris and our fans write him off immediately because they think it’s Giorgios Samaras.

Newcastle linked with Andreas Samaris. Would be a very solid signing & a big miss for Benfica. A lot of money being offered for him though.

Samaris is a no nonsense international midfielder who has been battling for honours with Benfica over the last three seasons.
Benitez would prefer to be working in the English market place but is increasingly having to look abroad for quality and value for money.
