Newcastle can forget about making a move for Kieran Tierney.

According to a report in The Chronicle the Celtic defender has no intention of quitting the Glasgow side.

Tierney picked up the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award on Sunday night and has broken into the Scotland team at the age of 19.

Rafa Benitez has had Tierney watched in recent weeks but the lifelong Celtic fan has no intention of quitting the Scottish champions.

The Newcastle boss is holding budget talks this week with Mike Ashley and is determined to put together a squad that is capable of more than just battling against relegation.

Brendan Rodgers is well aware of interest from elsewhere in Tierney but with four years left on his contract the hoops boss isn’t under any pressure to sell with the left-back currently rated in the £20m price range and showing no inclination to move south of the border.
