Newcastle United are lining up a move for Gabriel Pires.
According to a report on talkSPORT the Leganes midfielder is high on Rafa Benitez’s transfer wish list for the return to the Premier League.
Newcastle were in talks with the La Liga side in January about Pires but at the time it was only a loan deal.
Now with their return to the top flight confirmed Rafa Benitez is ready to make some serious additions to his squad to cope with the Premier League.
Pires has been one of the bright lights as Leganes fight against relegation with his form catching the eye of Newcastle’s network of scouts.
The 23-year-old can play in any attacking midfield role and has scored a respectable five goals this season.
Benitez is keen to get business completed early in order to give his side the maximum time possible to get ready for the demands of the Premier League.
