Newcastle are ready to offer Kieran Gibbs the chance of first team football.

According to a report in The Chronicle the Arsenal defender is wanted by Brighton and Newcastle for next season’s Premier League campaign.

Gibbs has endured another frustrating season at Arsenal where he has only started seven Premier League matches.

With Arsene Wenger planning a major turnover of players it looks like after a decade at the club that the defender will be surplus to requirements.

Rafa Benitez is keen to bring in fresh faces with Premier League experience with the 27-year-old full-back fitting the bill perfectly.

With a year left on his contract a deal for Gibbs would cost around £6m with the defender far from the highest earner at The Emirates.

After a satisfactory outcome to his meeting in midweek with Mike Ashley the spotlight is on Benitez to deliver players ready to hit the ground running in the Premier League.
