Bournemouth striker Joshua King says he is happy to be linked with a move to Newcastle but he wants to stay focused on scoring more goals for the Cherries.

The Norwegian international has enjoyed an excellent season in front of goal in the Premier League, and he is quoted by the Shields Gazette as saying that he wants to capitalise on a campaign where he has improved his level of goalscoring markedly:

“I cannot wait for next season to start. I’ve enjoyed being here from day one. Being noticed by other clubs is positive, but my focus is 100% here.”

“This is the first season where I have scored goals like this. Next year, I need to prove myself and do it all again. I set myself a target of 15 goals at the start of the season, and have been building my confidence. One you start scoring it builds.”

King reached has goal target against Sunderland at the end of last month, and currently has 16 goals from 36 games. His hot streak in front of goal stretches back to the New Year. Before January, he had made 18 appearances, scoring just three goals. Since then however, he has scored 13 in 18 games helping Bournemouth to a comfortable mid table finish in the Premier League.

Prior to this season, King’s best campaign in front of goal was in fact in his first season with Bournemouth, scoring seven goals in all competitions. At his previous club Blackburn Rovers, the 25 year old failed to scored more than four goals in a single season during his four years in Lancashire.
