Ayoze Perez is delighted that Rafa Benitez will be leading Newcastle’s return to the Premier League.
The delight of going up as champions was tinged with some concern over the meeting between Mike Ashley and the former Liverpool manager.
Benitez stuck by Newcastle despite relegation with Perez delighted to do likewise and looking forward to the challenge of a return to the top flight.
“I’ve learned a lot from Rafa Benitez so much this season,” the former Tenerife forward told The Chronicle. “As have the whole squad. We needed to make sure to keep him because it gives us a great future.”
The thoughts of Perez will be echoed throughout the whole squad as they look forward to the new season with the certainty that they will be guided by one of the most experienced managers in the country.
Armed with a transfer kitty that could reach north of £80m there are bound to be some top names joining the club to add quality and competition to every area of the club.
Perez is under contract until 2021 and is one player that should have no worries stepping back up in quality.
