Scouts from Newcastle United and Watford were in Italy yesterday to watch Bologna play Pescara, according to Tuttomercatoweb. The Italian website say the the two clubs were there to watch Bologna forward Mattia Destro.

The club’s representatives would have been impressed by what they would have seen at the Renato Dall’Ara with Destro hitting the back of the net twice in a 3-1 win.

The 26 year old is known for his pace and accurate finishing but he has never really fulfilled his potential despite making eight appearances for the Italian national team.

Destro’s highest scoring season came for Roma in 2013/14 season where he scored 13 goals in 20 league games, but he found it difficult to break into the Giallorossi’s first team.

After a failed loan spell with AC Milan, he moved to Bologna in the summer of 2015 and has been a regular for the mid table Serie A outfit ever since. This campaign he has made 31 appearances in all competitions, scoring 11 goals.
