Newcastle face competition from Hoffenheim for the signing of Kelechi Iheanacho.

According to a report in The Sun the German side have already held talks with Manchester City about taking the Nigerian out on loan.

Iheanacho has been on the fringes of the City side this season but is less likely to be involved next term once Pep Guardiola starts to bring in more of his own signings.

Newcastle were linked with the 20-year-old earlier this season with former striker Mick Quinn suggesting that Iheanacho would be one of his four key signings for next season.

Hoffenheim are on course to qualify for next season’s Champions League which would appeal to City for a loan deal while Newcastle could offer regular Premier League football.

With a contract at the Etihad until 2021 City won’t be selling Iheanacho but it looks like Newcastle will have to move quickly if they want to bring the 20-year-old to St James’ Park next season.
