Four Newcastle first team players who have contracts expiring at the end of June will have their fates decided in the “next few days” according to Chronicle reporter Lee Ryder.

Newcastle regulars Vurnon Anita and Yoan Gouffran, as well as peripheral squad players Haris Vuckic and Sammy Ameobi, are all waiting on a decision from manager Rafa Benitez about whether they will be offered new deals to remain at St James’ Park.

The Chronicle say that Vuckic and Ameobi will almost certainly be allowed to leave on free transfers in the summer but the fate of Gouffran and Anita is very much uncertain. Both players have spoken out over the last week about their futures with Anita stating clearly that he would like to stay at the club.

With Magpies boss Rafa Benitez having agreed the club’s budget for the new season with owner Mike Ashley this week, it seems likely that decisions on who will be offered new deals will be one of the first items on the agenda for the Spaniard as he looks to build a squad for the Premier League next season.
