Burnley will look to cash in on striker Andre Gray if they can’t agree a new contract in the summer, according to the Shields Gazette.

The 25 year old has two years remaining on his current deal and talks over a new one are expected to take place after Burnley’s final game of the season against West Ham on Sunday afternoon.

Both the Chronicle and the Shields Gazette believe Gray is a top summer target for Newcastle, but it seems any pursuit will be determined by the success or failure of contract talks.

The forward has scored nine goals in the Premier League this season, but he has failed to score in 25 of his 31 league appearances, with a barren spell that stretched from late August to late December.

Gray’s pace and experience of playing in the top flight could however sway manager Rafa Benitez into making a move for the player, but they may have to offer a sizeable fee to land him, with West Ham reportedly having a £15million bid rejected in January.
