Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez remains a target for West Ham, according to the Sun.

The Spaniard will reportedly head into the meeting with Magpies owner Mike Ashley this week demanding a £100million transfer kitty to improve his squad for the Premier League. If Ashley cannot promise the funding required, the Hammers could try to lure Benitez away to the London stadium.

No decision has been made on West Ham manager Slaven Bilic’s future yet, but with the club currently sitting 15th on 39 points, seven points above the relegation zone, there are suggestions the Croatian’s time at the club could come to an end in the summer.

The Sun report that the Hammers are seeking to improve after a disappointing first season at their new ground, and the club’s owners have kept an eye on Benitez ever since he turned down the opportunity to become the club’s manager  two years ago before he joined Real Madrid.
