Newcastle are interested in signing Udinese’s number one goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis, according to Tuttoudinese.it.

The website’s reporter Stefano Pontoni says that the Serie A club’s owner Gino Pozzo is prepared to allow the experienced Greek international to leave at the end of the season for €10m (£8.5m).

The Magpies are not the only team said to be looking at the 31 year old however, with both Watford and Crystal Palace also seeking to make a move for the keeper.

Karnezis joined Udinese from Panathinaikos in 2013 but was loaned out to the club’s feeder team Granada for the 2013/14 campaign. He returned to Italy in the summer of 2014 after making just eight appearances for the Spanish club, but despite his failure to establish himself out on loan, he immediately became Udinese’s first choice keeper under manager Andrea Stramaccioni.

Playing under five different managers during his time in Serie A, he has continued to be the Udinese’s number one, playing 34 times in all competitions this season, conceding 45 goals and keeping eight clean sheets.
