Newcastle could rival West Ham to the signature of Saint-Etienne right back Kevin Malcuit, according to France Football magazine (via NUFC Blog).

The Hammers have had two bids of £7million and £8.5million rejected for the 25 year old in recent months but the Sun reports Slaven Bilic’s side will return with another offer of £10million in the summer.

With the Magpies poised for promotion back to the Premier League, and with a history of signing French based players, a move for Malcuit is certainly not out of the question.

Despite signing both DeAndre Yedlin and Jesus Gamez as right backs over the summer, manager Rafa Benitez has sometimes favoured utility player Vurnon Anita to play in the position this season. With the Dutchman likely to depart on a free transfer at the end of his contract, Newcastle could be seeking another full back to compete with Yedlin and Gamez.

Malcuit has only established himself as a first team player at Saint-Etienne this campaign, playing 29 times in all competitions, in what is only his second season playing in the top flight in France.
