Leeds United manager Gary Monk has praised Newcastle ahead of the match between the two sides tomorrow evening.

The Magpies will be hoping to recover from the defeat to Sheffield Wednesday last weekend, and Monk told Leeds’s official website that he knows his side will face a stern test at St James’ Park:

“Newcastle are obviously one of the best sides in the league, their objective at the start of the season was very clear, to win automatic promotion and they are on course to do that. They are an exceptional team, they have a very big and talented squad and they are where they are expected to be.”

Rafa Benitez’s side will be hoping to add another three points as they edge closer to promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Third place Huddersfield Town will host Preston North End earlier in the day and Newcastle could open out a 13 point gap going into the last four matches of the Championship season if results go their way.

Monk’s Leeds will not make things easy for the Magpies though as they have ambitions of their own. They are attempting to secure a playoff place, and currently sit fifth in the table, five points ahead of seventh placed Fulham.
