Newcastle winger Christian Atsu believes the Magpies will have to be at their very best when they face playoff contenders Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow evening.

Atsu’s team will face the Owls who have won 12 of their 17 games at home this season, and despite having the best away record in the Championship, the 24 year old says Newcastle will have to be on their game if they are to record another three points. He told the Chronicle:

“It will be a very tough game [against Wednesday]. We have a very good away record but that does not count for anything. We have to just keep working hard.”

Wednesday recorded a 2-0 win over relegated Rotherham United on Tuesday night, keeping their playoff hopes alive and moving back into sixth place, ahead of Fulham who lost 4-2 to Derby County.

Manager Carlos Carvalhal named three central strikers for the match at the New York stadium, with Gary Hooper, Jordan Rhodes and Steven Fletcher all starting the match. The Magpies may need to rely on their defensive organisation in order to navigate another tough away day fixture and come out with a result.
