In what seems a highly unlikely scenario, Calciomercato are reporting Newcastle are interested in re-signing Moussa Sissoko from Tottenham.

The Frenchman burned a lot of bridges in the summer when he agitated for a move away from St James’ Park but his £30m switch to White Hart Lane has not worked out.

The Italian website report that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has already lost patience with the 27 year old and is prepared to let the midfielder go on a cut price deal.

Sissoko has featured in 31 matches this season, but has only made 11 starts in all competitions. He has yet to hit the back of the net in a Tottenham shirt, but has provided four assists this campaign.

Sissoko spent three years on Tyneside, but his inconsistent performances frustrated many Magpies fans, and there was no love lost when he departed the club in August after speaking out in the French press on numerous occasions trying to engineer a move away from St James Park.
