Newcastle right back DeAndre Yedlin says he is not sure why the Magpies have suffered a blip in form in recent weeks.

The American international doesn’t believe that nerves are getting to the players, but he told the Shields Gazette that they must find a solution as quickly as possible.

“I don’t think we have fear, but I’m not exactly sure where this blip has come from. We need to figure it out quickly, and we will do that on the training field with the manager.”

The 24 year old returned to the starting lineup in the 3-1 defeat to Ipswich Town on Monday, before being substituted 12 minutes from the end. The full back had spent a month on the sidelines with a hamstring injury before returning as a substitute against Leeds United last week.

Vurnon Anita has been a regular starter in Yedlin’s absence and will no doubt be keen to take Yedlin’s place in the side for Monday night’s game at St James’ Park against Preston North End. The pair have been battling for the right back spot all season with both players having played 30 games in all competitions this campaign.
