Newcastle forward Ayoze Perez has set his sights on claiming the Championship title on top of sealing promotion to the Premier League.

The Magpies are ten points ahead of third place Huddersfield Town, and still currently need 15 points to make sure of a return to the top flight of English football, but Perez is also mindful of second placed Brighton.

The Seagulls sit just one point behind Newcastle in the table with seven games to go, and the Spaniard says he wants to win as many games as possible in order to secure top spot. He told the Chronicle:

“We know that if we want to stay at the top of the table we have to win most of the games. That’s the way we have to think and if we do we will get it.”

Brighton will go top tonight if they beat Birmingham City at home as the Magpies have to wait until tomorrow evening to play their match against Burton Albion. The Seagulls will again play first at the weekend when they face Queens Park Rangers on Friday night before Newcastle play away at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday evening.
