Newcastle have four key areas they want to strengthen in the summer transfer market, according to the Chronicle. They are seeking a new striker, a new centre back, a left winger and cover at full back.

It suggests they are only seeking three first team players, with cover just being sought to replace the likely departure of Vurnon Anita in the summer at right back.

The same paper have suggested that the club may be seeking up to six first team players, and eight players in total but it seems like the club are prioritising certain areas first which are in most need of improving.

Rafa Benitez has told Spanish radio he will have £70million to spend and the Chronicle have backed this up by saying the figure they’ve heard is closer to the £100m mark.

Whether the raid by HMRC on Newcastle today over allegations of tax fraud affect the club’s transfer plans, it is not yet known.
