Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino remains interested in Newcastle winger Florian Thauvin, according to RMC Sport.

The Frenchman will join Marseille in the summer for €11million after a season long loan, but the French news outlet report that despite the 24 year old’s previous difficulties in English football, Spurs manager Pochettino is still keeping track of the player. He reportedly first looked at signing the midfielder in 2015 before his £15m move to Tyneside.

Pochettino is believed to have asked former Marseille manager Marcelo Bielsa about Thauvin’s abilities. Bielsa gave Pochettino his debut at international level when he was Argentina manager in 1999, and it seems they keep in regular contact.

Thauvin has been in excellent form for Marseille with 12 goals and nine assists in 38 matches this campaign. His performances have even led to a call up to the France national side last month. A stark contrast to the six months struggling to get first team action with the Magpies.
