Hull City midfielder Sam Clucas could be a target for Newcastle, according to the Chronicle. The paper’s reporter Lee Ryder suggests the 26 year old may be on the club’s radar if the Tigers are relegated from the Premier League.
The Chronicle say that Clucas would be a potential signing to strengthen the left side of midfield. Christian Atsu could return to Chelsea when his loan spell expires at the end of the season while Yoan Gouffran’s contract is also up this summer.
Although ostensibly a winger, Clucas has been utilised mostly as a central midfielder by both Mike Phelan and Marco Silva this season with only 11 of his 37 matches this season coming from the left hand side of midfield.
He has impressed under Silva in a more central position, but it remains to be seen whether he will be available in the summer. The Tigers are currently two points above the relegation zone with four games to go.
