Newcastle winger Christian Atsu chose not to talk about his future at Newcastle during an interview with KweseESPN.

The Magpies can sign the 25 year old permanently this summer if they choose to after his season long loan spell at the club, but the midfielder was only prepared to speak about the club’s promotion to the Premier League, and manager Rafa Benitez.

The Ghanaian international reserved special praise for the Newcastle boss who has placed faith in him this season after spending numerous spells on loan at other clubs:

“Mostly when a coach makes everything comfortable for you, you are relaxed, you work harder. He has played one of the biggest roles in my life this season. I am honestly grateful.”

The Chronicle report that Newcastle have yet to make a decision on Atsu’s future at the club. The winger has played 33 games in all competitions but has started just 14. It is believed that the Magpies are considering moves for other wingers in the summer as they look to strengthen their squad for the Premier League.

Atsu has struggled to establish himself since joining Chelsea in 2013. He has spent time on loan at Vitesse Arnhem, Everton, Bournemouth and Malaga before joining Newcastle in the summer. If he doesn’t join the Magpies, it has been reported that Chelsea will look to offload him at the first opportunity.
