Newcastle are looking at the possibility of signing Burnley winger Scott Arfield in the summer, according to the Sun (via the Daily Star).

The 28 year old has 14 months left on his contract, and although manager Sean Dyche is seeking to tie the midfielder down to a longer term deal, he maybe forced to sell if an extension is not signed.

Magpies boss Rafa Benitez is said to be keen on strengthening his attacking options in the summer but a move for Arfield is most likely dependent on the Championship leaders clinching promotion to the Premier League.

This season, Arfield has struggled to keep his place in the starting lineup after the arrival of Robbie Brady from Norwich in January. He has started the last two league games against Liverpool and Sunderland, but he has managed just one goal and one assist in 30 appearances so far this campaign for the Clarets.
