Newcastle will sell Florian Thauvin back to Marseille for £9.5million in the summer, according to the Chronicle.

The Frenchman was called up by Didier Deschamps to the France national team this week for the matches against Luxembourg and Spain. Although he is technically still a Newcastle player, the 24 year old joined Marseille on a season long loan, and the French club will automatically purchase the winger at the end of the season.

The midfielder joined the Magpies from Marseille for £14.5million in 2015, meaning Newcastle will make a £5million loss, but the Chronicle report some of that will be offset by their sale of Remy Cabella to the same club.

Thauvin struggled to settle on Tyneside and made just 16 appearances before returning to France with Marseille mid way through last season on his first loan spell.

This campaign, Thauvin has been in excellent form with ten goals and six assists in 30 league matches, leading to his call up to the national team squad this week.
