Newcastle are interested in signing Manchester United left back Luke Shaw, according to the Daily Star.

Journalist Harry Pratt reports that Magpies boss Rafa Benitez is keen on signing the England international if the club is promoted to the Premier League.

The Championship leaders are not the only side to be in the running for Shaw though, with Stoke City and Crystal Palace also believed to be interested. It is reported that United will demand at least £15million for a player who cost the club £30million from Southampton back in 2014.

Shaw has made 15 appearances so far for United this campaign, but has come in for criticism from manager Jose Mourinho. He has been omitted from a number of matchday squads despite being fit and could be surplus to requirements in the summer.

His time at Old Trafford has been plagued with injury, and he spent the majority of last season on the sidelines after picking up a broken leg in a Champions League game against PSV Eindhoven.
