Newcastle will make another attempt to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Ben Osborn in the summer if the Magpies clinch promotion from the Championship, according to the Mirror.

Osborn was a target for Magpies boss Rafa Benitez in the January transfer window but Forest refused to sell to the league leaders. The 22 year old can play in a variety positions across the pitch, and despite being more known as a central midfielder, he has been employed on the left wing more often than not by Forest this season.

In the last two games however, he has actually played as a second striker, scoring against Newcastle’s promotion rivals Brighton last weekend. In 39 matches in all competitions this season, Osborn has scored four goals and provided five assists.

Forest currently sit 18th in the Championship table, five points off the relegation zone, and it is likely Osborn would find it hard to turn down the chance to join the Magpies if the opportunity arises in the summer.
