Newcastle could have three players back from injury for the match against Wigan Athletic tomorrow, according to the Chronicle. Striker Daryl Murphy, left back Paul Dummett and central defender Grant Hanley could all return to action against the Latics.

Murphy had been sidelined with a calf injury that kept him out of the Republic of Ireland squad’s for the recent internationals, but it is believed he hasn’t had any further complications in his recovery. The 33 year old was sidelined with a similar injury earlier in the season when he was out for two months.

Dummett and Hanley’s injuries were less serious but it seems the international break came at the perfect time for both of them. Dummett had been playing with a heel injury in recent weeks but the rest seems to have allowed him to recover from the knock.

Hanley meanwhile sustained an ankle injury against Birmingham City and was withdrawn from the Scotland squad for the matches against Canada and Slovenia. He now looks likely to start against Wigan tomorrow with Ciaran Clark still not fully recovered from a knee injury.
