Newcastle attacking midfielder Haris Vuckic has played his first game for FC Twente as he looks to prove himself on a week’s trial at the Dutch club.

During the international break, the Eredivisie outfit played a friendly against Belgian side Lokeren which they lost 3-1, mainly due to the fact they have far fewer senior first team players with many on international duty.

FC Twente confirmed that Vuckic participated in the friendly. In a below statement (translated by the Mag), the Dutch side commented that Vuckic is indeed on trial:

“Haris Vuckic, which this week is having a trial at FC Twente, was part of the selection against Lokeren.”

Dutch media reported yesterday that the Slovenian was in the Netherlands as he looks to secure a move to Twente but there has been no confirmation from this side of the channel.

The 24 year old still has a contract with the Magpies until the end of the season but it seems that he has been allowed to search for another club, rather than playing for the Under 23s until the summer.
