The Mirror is reporting that Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez could be tempted to switch to West Ham United with the Hammers still holding an interest in the Magpies boss.

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan has previously revealed that they were within hours of hiring the Spaniard two years ago before Real Madrid came in for the former Liverpool and Chelsea manager.

Mirror Journalist Darren Lewis says that Benitez was frustrated by the lack of signings in the January transfer window, and may be interested in the role at the London stadium.

Much will depend on whether Newcastle are promoted from the Championship, and Benitez would certainly find the Hammers’ job far less appealing if he is already in charge of another Premier League side.

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic is under heavy pressure after a winless run which stretches back two months, and the Sun reports today he will be sacked unless he finishes in the top 10. The Hammers currently lie 12th in the Premier League.
