Newcastle forward Haris Vuckic is undergoing a one week trial at FC Twente, according to Tubantia.

The Dutch newspaper reports the Slovenian is no longer a Newcastle player but it is more likely that as the 24 year old’s contract will expire in the summer, the Magpies have allowed the player to join up with the Eredivise side in order to gain a new deal for next season.

Vuckic joined the club in 2009 from Domzale but has made just 19 appearances in all competitions during his Newcastle career. He has spent most of his career on loan at five different clubs, including Cardiff City, Rotherham United, Rangers, Wigan Athletic and Bradford City.

He spent the first half of this season with the Bantams, making 14 appearances in total and scoring four goals. He has not been included in the first team squad since his return to St James’ Park, and it is likely he will now not return to Tyneside as he seeks a new club.

Newcastle’s Siem De Jong is current on loan at PSV Eindhoven, while goalkeeper Tim Krul has played for both Ajax and AZ in the Netherlands during loan spells this campaign.
