Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has roared about his team ahead of tomorrow’s crunch clash with Brighton and Hove Albion on the south coast.
With both teams constantly swapping places within the Championship’s top two all season, their meeting at the AMEX promises to be a cracker and will go a long way into deciding the complexion of the automatic promotion spots.
While the Toon Army have struggled to truly hit top gear of late, the Magpies maestro is confident his side are the league’ best, having enjoyed a wonderful first campaign under the stewardship of Rafa Benitez. Shelvey has been a major part of that and the 25-year-old is amongst the best players in the division.
Playing like a man who knows he is simply too good for the second tier in England, the former Liverpool and Swansea City ace has declared the black and white army as the best in Championship.
“If you look around in our dressing room, we’ve got the best team in this division”, he told BBC Radio Newcastle (via the Shields Gazette.)
“We’re the team that should go up. If teams are going to fear you, they might not act like it, but I’m sure they do.
“When Newcastle come to other places, the clubs you’re playing against get their biggest capacities. That speaks highly of this great football club.”
