Having handed a boost to everyone involved with Newcastle United yesterday, Rafa Benitez has hinted (with quotes sourced by the Telegraph) that there is still time to talk about how things are run at the club.

The Spaniard’s long-term future was thrown into doubt of late after the Magpies failed to bring anyone in over the course of the January transfer market and much has been made about the power struggles at St. James’ Park between managers and Mike Ashley.

While the 56-year-old did seem to solely focus on this season during his pre-match press conference yesterday, the former Liverpool and Real Madrid coach did suggest there’s time to talk with top brass on Tyneside between now and the end of the campaign in regards to how things are run.

Clearly, winning promotion back into the Premier League is his absolute priority, though Benitez at least nodded to the fact there are still conversations to be had with those behind the scenes.

“We will have plenty of time to talk about what is going on and how to do things, or whatever, but I am not worrying about that and the fans have to understand this,” he said.

”The priority is to get the results we need to get promotion.”
