It seems as if Newcastle United have made the decision to withdraw from the race to sign Brentford striker Scott Hogan, reported by Ed Aarons

The 13-goal striker has been one of the names linked with a move to St. James’ Park following his lethal form for the Bees this season, though the Toon have reportedly pulled out.

It’s thought Watford have tabled an £8m bid for the 24-year-old, while West Ham United are another understood to be keen on the former Rochdale ace.

Rafa Benitez already has the likes of Dwight Gayle and Aleksandar Mitrovic to call on up front, as well as summer signing Daryl Murphy.

Gayle is the Championship’s top scorer with 19 goals this season, keeping even the popular Mitrovic at bay as the Magpies’ first choice striker in Benitez’s 4-2-3-1 formation.

As good as Hogan would have been, it seems the Spanish coach is happy with his lot up front.
