Yesterday saw the Chronicle relay reports from Belgian outlet HLN Sport suggesting defender Chancel Mbemba could be a target for former club Anderlecht.

Such is the standing of the Congolese on Tyneside, those reports largely gathered the attention and the notion of allowing him to leave St. James’ Park largely proved unpopular on social media.

However, the 22-year-old isn’t the only Toon star touted for an exit to Belgium within the report.

Right at the bottom of the story, they claim Anderlecht are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Matz Sels.

The Belgian has disappointed since joining the club in the summer and, despite starting the campaign as Rafa Benitez’s No.1, has since his lost his place to Karl Darlow.

In fact, he hasn’t played since his blunder cost the Magpies in the EFL Cup quarter-final against Hull City and could be lined up as a target this month.

With Rob Elliot also set to return to action soon, the 24-year-old would be no great loss.

Should the Toon stick with Sels? Let us know below…
