Andros Townsend’s potential return to Newcastle United has taken another turn today following reports from the Daily Mail

The 25-year-old has been touted for a stunning return to Tyneside of late having struggled since moving to Crystal Palace in the summer and is believed to be open to a return to St. James’ Park. However, he’s said to prefer the idea of rejoining the Magpies initially on a loan deal, taking stock of his situation in the summer once more.

He proved a hugely popular figure amongst the Toon Army towards the tail end of the campaign last term and played a huge part in staving off relegation for as long as they did, though it’s unclear as to exactly what the crowd would make of him after he left for Alan Pardew’s Eagles side so quickly.

The south London side are in the relegation zone right now and reportedly prefer the idea of banking a similar sort of figure (thought to be around £13m) they paid for him in the summer in order to provide Sam Allardyce with more funds as he bids to beat the drop.
