Steve McClaren is not at all keen on allowing Tom Ince to Derby County this month, according to the Chronicle

The 24-year-old was recently touted as a potential £8m target for the Magpies as Rafa Benitez looks to strengthen his options in wide areas, with only Yoan Gouffran and Matt Ritchie available for selection right now.

Still, while the former Toon chief is understood to be aware of reports linking one of his star men with a move to St. James’, he reportedly has little intention of letting him depart Pride Park.

While Ince’s progress has somewhat stalled in recent seasons, the nine-goal winger is said to have a good rapport with McClaren and his form has certainly been improving since he returned to the Rams.

With Derby harbouring realistic promotion aspirations themselves, Ince staying with the club is thought to be a priority and the notion of allowing him to join a Championship rival is probably unlikely halfway through the campaign.

Would Ince improve Newcastle? Let us know below…
