As Newcastle United’s January transfer window continues to take all type of twists and turn, the latest odds from Ladbrokes seem to hint the Magpies could miss out on another reported target this month.

The Toon Army have been touted as potential destination for Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph, whose playing time at the Etihad has been pretty much non-existent under Pep Guardiola of late. They, along with former club Aston Villa have been mooted as potential landing spots for the 27-year-old during the New Year sales.

However, the bookmakers now make Leeds United favourites to rescue him from his City nightmare at just 4/1. Delph came through the ranks at Elland Road, emerging as a hugely talented youngster in their famed academy before moving over to Villa Park in 2009.

He’s made 9 appearances for the Three Lions too and even made the provisional squad for Euro 2016 towards the back end of last season, though didn’t make the final cut under Roy Hodgson as they struggled in France. Newcastle are made just 8/1 to land him, while Villa themselves are slightly ahead in the odds at 6/1.
